mojo's 10th anniversary, part two!

a couple of months ago morgan and joseph had their 10th anniversary party.  i put up a previous blog post about their party with my digital pics.  now that my scanner is working like a dream, here's my shots from my kowa six that i took.

this is the view from where the party was at:

it was right by the aurora bridge in fremont.

then the next day, they treated to everyone to a cruise around elliott bay:

it was a fun time!!!

christmas in july...

i finally got my scanner working well (first time since i've owned the damn thing) so i scanned in the photos from christmas last year.  maya was at her mom's for christmas and morgan was in portland, so joseph, the ging, alistair and i all went over to joseph and morgans.  it was a great day.  i'm so glad that the pics came out well.

all taken with my kowa six medium format camera.
now i have 5 more rolls of film to scan and then get all 10 rolls from vacation developed and scanned.  i will not be bored...

obiwan kenobi told me in the lobby...

CIBO MATTO!
i really never thought i would actually get to see them!  i got into them right after they broke up and have been crossing my fingers and toes ever since for a reunion tour.  it was with great joy and much shouting of "ivy smith! ivy smith!  CIBO MATTO is coming to town!!!" that my little dream was actualized.
so i've been pissing my pants with excitement for the last month waiting for the magical day.  there's been much talk of the show between grace, joseph, sally and juan and i.  juan has just two words for you: cibo. matto.

i went and picked up poops before the show to eat and do some people watching on crapitol hill because everyone else had to work until 8:30 or 9:30.

when we got to neumos it was with great happiness that the cibo matto posters were right by bill callahan's posters.  bill was playing the next night and as much as i love him, i just couldn't go to two shows two nights in a row in the middle of the work week.  don't worry bill!  i'll be there next time.  PROMISE!

we then waited a while in the line for will call:

i was super excited also to get some kick ass merch and the only letdown of the whole spectacle was the fact THAT THEY HAD NO MERCHANDISE!  i wanted stickers.  i wanted tshirts.  i wanted buttons.  i wanted posters.  i was going to spend money!  but nope, only one crappy tshirt that i couldn't bring myself to buy. *sigh*
that's ok...the show was AWESOME!  they totally ripped it up on 'birthday cake' and they played 'sci fi wasabi' which is my favorite song of theirs.  grace was extra happy to hear 'moonchild' and 'sugar water'.
this was the first show of the tour and also the first show that they have played together since 2001.  they had a couple of new songs and i hope that means...NEW ALBUM!  and hopefully more shows in the future because i would loooooooooooove to see them again!

my camera sucks and people's iphones were taking way better pics than my camera so here is the best shot i have (and it ain't good):
that's yuka honda on the left and miho hatori on the right.  damn...those two look good for their age.  they are kick ass women!!

grace turned 21 for the 10th time!!

it was grace's birthday!!
from the care package from hadley last month, i had 4 partially finished aprons.  grace likes to bake a lot, so i finished two of the aprons for her:

i really liked the sparkly yellow/gold rick rack on here:

some of us met up at o'hana's before we went to karaoke for the rest of the evening.
grace got a blue hawaii:

i think i took this right before vena spilled water all over herself (that was awesome...i laughed so hard i had to use my inhaler.  vena was NOT as amused...):

then we went up to the rock box in crapitol hill where grace had booked a room:

this place was pretty great.  you book a room for you and all your friends to karaoke in.  the sound system was great and it was way funner than being stuck in some bar listening to some crappy strangers singing:

they had a drink for hello kitty!!:
i really wish that i liked coconut...i totally would have gotten the creamy martini...and it was no surprise to me that vena ordered the school girl :)

vena got a new camera and took lots of shots:

it was a super fun nite and easily the most fun i've had sitting through karaoke:

look!  vena was waiting on us too!  awww...thanks vena!!

juan and joseph came:

the smoke got in the way of the shot:

juan and grace sang some madonna and started a freaking dance party:

and david cho channeled some morrissey:

this was great fun!  me and vena's birthdays are a day apart, we're thinking about having a joint bday party here in september.  what do you think?  discuss...

10 years together...

awwwww...it's finally morgan and joseph's 10 year anniversary weekend!  WOW! i guess i've known both of them for over 10 years since i met them from working at PCC when they both were dating other people, subsequently broke up with their respective boyfriends and have been together ever since.
i love both of them so much.  we have game night every once in a while and that is always super fun.  i don't see enough of them, so it was great to help celebrate their 10 years together this weekend with an anniversary party on saturday evening at the lake washington rowing club and then a cruise around elliott bay on argosy cruises on sunday.
unfortunately, my pics from the get together at the rowing club came out super dark, but a couple were ok:
my delicious vodka cran, alistair's mannys and my kowa six.  also the excellent centerpieces at every table were for us to take home as party gifts and put in our yards.  nice!  i grabbed one with flowers.

for some reason, the only pics i had of people that came out were of andrew.  apparently the camera loves him:
there's the ging!  i'll have a post about her tomorrow :)

i'm glad that andrew showed up, since he had a show at 3 and another one at 9:30.  he's a good friend.

then on sunday, the argosy cruise where there was SUNNY WEATHER!  amazing, really.
LOOK!  we cruised right on past where i work!  it's a really neat looking building from the water.

grace and i kept on trying to take pics of the two of us and they came out pretty shitty.  this was is great and totally typical...i managed to give myself multiple chins.  i'm glad i don't normally look like this...
grace, of course, looks adorable!  and there's juan next to grace.  i've heard about him for years, but i just met  him today.  he's been here 10 days, just moved from the east coast.

and here's morgan and joseph!
my only picture of them and it's the side of morgan and the back of joseph's head.  i suck.

this plane came right over us, i'm pretty sure i saw the pilot waving :)

we went right by south seattle where they load all the shipping containers on the boats and it was really neat.  the big crane contraptions that they use to load those ginormous boxes on the boats are crazy:

i really liked this one:  big enormous boat, with a smaller tug boat next to it, with a smaller boat next to it and finally a teeny-tiny little boat next to it.  hee hee.

poops!

then the cruise was over and grace and i went to uwajimaya on the way home for a late lunch and some grocery shopping for poops:

it was a great day and so super nice of morgan and joseph to take everyone on the cruise!
YAY for sunny days in seattle!
